What does a vibrating feeder do?
Vibrating Feeder is an instrument that uses vibration to "feed" material to a process or machine. Vibratory feeders use both vibration and gravity to move material. Gravity is used to determine the direction, either down, or down and to a side, and then vibration is used to move the material.
Vibrating Feeder Working Principle:
Using a controlled vibratory force, vibratory feeders are used to move materials in bulk. The product is put in the feeder tray. The product moves in a number of hops when the tray vibrates. The continuous motion of the product is created by a sequence of hops.
Vibrating Feeder speed:
A large vibratory bowl feeder can move 45 to 50 feet of parts per minute, or 600 inches per minute. A centrifugal feeder can move as much as 3000 inches per minute.
Vibrating Feeder size:
Vibrating feeders are produced in sizes up to 1.5 meters x 3 meters, depending on market demand, although much larger vibrating feeders are also produced and used. Pan feeders are horizontal or inclined in the flow direction to facilitate the easy flow of material.
Vibrating Feeder disadvantages:
Main disadvantages: The feeder's vibrating action can generate dust with some materials. The vibrating action can segregate material blends. The feeder doesn't provide positive material extraction (that is, a means for pulling the material out of the feeder's hopper).
Vibrating Feeder use:
These feeders find application in diverse sectors, including manufacturing, food processing, pharmaceuticals, mining, and more. In the manufacturing industry, vibratory feeders are employed for precise assembly processes, aiding in the smooth and accurate feeding of small parts or components.
